Zero Day - Magog, QC

Jeremy and Skipper take a break in Magog

Date: Sunday, August 13, 2023

I won't share much about this day.  It was spent with family and I don't want to be plastering their photos on the internet for everyone to see.  Also...I mostly spent this day blogging.  I feel bad about spending so much time staring at my computer while my family was taking care of everything but I promise I didn't just ignore them the entire day!  I've been chronically behind on blog posts for weeks now and it's been stressing me out for a while.  I'm going to keep it short and sweet.

We had a wonderful breakfast and were expecting my sister and her family for dinner.  I spent much of the day blogging.  I also shaved and cut my hair however, and it felt really nice to have shorter hair again!  The last cut had been in Winnipeg!

Skipper went with my father to find a tube for the one he'd used to repair his flat tire.  We did laundry and I tried to help prepare for my sister's arrival where I could.

We enjoyed some time outside by my parents pool in the sunshine.  It was a great day outside!

My sister, brother-in-law, and nieces arrived in the afternoon and we set about having dinner.  This is a rather frantic affair with so many people and young children, and I couldn't manage a group photo.

After dinner the kids went swimming and I grabbed some great shots of them jumping in!

In the evening we cleaned up and rested.  I enjoyed all the time I got to spend with my family and was happy Skipper got the opportunity to meet them all.

I've taken to writing odes to everyone I stop and visit and stay with.  This is difficult to do with my parents because they're my parents!  It should be obvious what the connection is and why they are important to me.  But they've always been two of my biggest supporters and have been there to help me out whenever I asked for help and even the times when I was too shy to ask.  I am simply the reflection of all those who have loved and supported me these last 36 years.  Whatever good things you might think about me it's largely because I've been propped up by others, and my parents have been my greatest champions.  I love them both and was happy I got to see my dad twice on this trip so far and to be able to stop in to see my mother on this journey.

My sister Becky and I are two years apart and really grew up together.  She's another of those supporters who has helped me get through difficult times.  She's also another of the funniest people I know.  Maybe second only to her husband - and whole human being in his own right - Jordan.  The two of them never fail to get a laugh out of me and I love every second I get to spend with them.  I'll see them again when the trip is over, but I was happy they could be here and be a part of my journey.

When the night was over I worked on the blog some more.  We tucked in early though, the next day was promising to be a challenging one and I needed sleep after a long day of work and reunions!

Thank you again to my family for everything.  I love you all!
